Automation

Here are things to check if your automations don’t work as expected.

Trigger is disabled

This might sound obvious but if your trigger is disabled, it doesn’t execute the actions. New triggers are disabled by default.

Event never happens

Accessory state events occur only if the state transitions from a value to the trigger value. For example, if a trigger should fires when the current temperature is between 0°C and 20°C, the current temperature must transition from below 0°C or above 20°C into the event range value.

Conditions are not met

All conditions are required to be met. If one of the conditions evaluates to false, the actions are not executed.

Accessories not reachable

Actions can’t be executed if an accessory is not reachable at the moment the trigger fires. Make sure that your accessories are turned on and connected to your network. Also note that Bluetooth accessories might be out of range and therefore not reachable.

No Home Hub

Some triggers are executed by your home hub and not your iOS device. If your home hub is offline, turned off, or not connected to your iCloud account, your triggers don’t work. Make sure that your home hub is labeled as Connected in the Settings tab.

When you get the error “No compatible home hub”, make sure that your home hub is running the latest operating system. Check the version of → Apple ID → Select your Home Hub from the list of devices → Version. If the device version is not up to date there, sign out from iCloud on your home hub and then sign in again.
